Gesture as Performance

The works in this series consider its materials' close relationship with body and movement. Postures of slack and support or weight and tension are gestures that communicate emotionally. These works incorporate handwoven textiles used in my performative collaboration, The Event of the Thread, with the modern dance company, The Moving Architects. The postures of this new series retain the memory of the dancers' expression as they moved through the installation and built a narrative of strength and vulnerability.
