On the Fence
an inquiry into issues of urban landscape, handwork, and community, linked by one continuous thread. On the Fence is a site-specific crochet graffiti installation around the building of PS 122, installed over the course of a six-week live art performance. The project is inspired by the role that fiber handwork has played in bringing communities together and builds on that relationship to connect communities to their surroundings. Exploring ideas of labor, I held the same hours as the construction crew working in the scaffolding of the building for the duration of the project. |
